Our story
Have Another Cherry started with a simple frustration: every expense app assumes everyone pays equally. But households don't work that way. People earn differently, contribute differently, and "fair" rarely means "50/50." We built the tool we wished existed — one that starts from a split that actually feels fair, then quietly handles the math so money never becomes the hard conversation.
I created Have Another Cherry after one too many spreadsheet arguments with myself about who owed what, and how purchases should be paid back. I implement POS software for restaurants by day, work on my Ph.D. in interpersonal relationahips at night, and work on this labor of love inspired by my partner, Robert, later at night. I guess this means I "lead product and design" but I certain obsess over the details that make a financial app feel calm instead of stressful. My goal is to make every feature of Have Another Cherry affordable for those interested in its premium features and make sharing expenses feel fairer and friendlier for all its users so that their relationsips stay sweet and purchasing things together sweeter.
Matt Matt Powers is the founder of Embr Intelligence, where he helps founders turn early-stage ideas into production-ready web and mobile products. His work focuses on software development, AI integration, cloud infrastructure, and product launch, with an emphasis on making complex technology practical, reliable, and usable. For Have Another Cherry, Matt fortified the core prototype: from AI receipt scanning to the accounting logic that keeps every ledger exact across groups. He cares about software that's fast, private, and reliable, so the numbers you see are always the numbers to trust so you can focus on having fun with your partner, your family, and your friends. When he's not shipping features, he's refining the ones that already exist.
